chema-photo-sugRfmGFWUs-unsplashLocated on the Bastimentos Island, Ataraxia is a solar powered lodge that offers lush nature right on the edge of the Caribbean sea. Their jungle, in the past a cocoa plantation, is home to a great variety of wildlife. The local fauna includes sloth, monkeys, anteaters, armadillo, boas, caïmans and a great variety of colorful birds.

Take a few steps from the jungle and jump into the clear water of the carribean sea, snorkel the bordering reef and paddle around our kayaks and stand up paddleboards.

The lodge is run completely sustainable and supply all the resources from solar energy and purified rain water. Support the mission to protect nature an produce and consume as little waste and resources as possible while still enjoying an unforgettable vacation.

Jungalow 1There are 3 Bedrooms in the main house that can accommodate up to 9 guests from a combination of double, triple and quadruple rooms. If students don’t want to share beds, 6 of them can have their own bed in the main house.

Then there are 2 Jungalows that can accommodate up to 4 guests in twin beds.

Being committed to sustainable business practices, Ataraxia runs off the grid. The water supply entirely depends on rain collection and the electricity is solar and produced on-site. Being limited in electricity supply and wishing to restrict the use of fossil energies, there is no A/C in the rooms or hot water. However the ceiling fans assure comfortable temperatures and air flows in the rooms and the tropical climate of Bocas del Toro makes cold showers a treat.

There is a good range of yoga equipment, including yoga mats (currently 12), blocks (currently 12), straps (currently 12).

The Shala is 50m² (535 ft²). That is all clear open space overlooking jungle and caribbean sea.

Alena Hluskina is an E-RYT 500 registered with Yoga Alliance teacher. She has been teaching since 2012 mainly in Sivananda yoga tradition and been to India 9 times where had practical experience in many different yoga types as Sivananda, Ashtanga, Kundalini, and Iyengar. For Alena, yoga is the main life philosophy. Alena is a master of energy-informational rehabilitation and, so energy treatment can be also provided to visitors.

lunchThe hilltop restaurant area overlooks the sea and the jungle. We offer breakfast and dinner everyday.

You will get tea, fruit juice, fresh fruits and vegetable salas, deserts, variety of vegetarian dishes. All you need to have a nice yogic day. The daily menu varies according to the seasons and what’s available.

We practice this diet for many reasons but especially because we don’t believe in violence. Since we don’t eat any type of meat there is always other protein (beans, nuts, diary, etc.) in our daily ration.

If you prefer having an intimate dinner, please let us know and we will arrange that.
